State Representative Justin Pizzulli from Scioto County announced the passing of House Bill 65, known as the Agriculture Appreciation Act, by the Ohio House of Representatives. The legislation received unanimous support.

The bill aims to officially establish several agriculture-related observances in Ohio's state law. These include FFA Week in the last full week of February, 4-H Week ending on the second Saturday of March, National Farmers Market Week in the first full week of August, Ohio Soil Health Week in the second full week of November, Stormwater Awareness Week in the first full week of October, Agriculture Day on March 21, and Farmer’s Day on October 12.

“Agriculture impacts the lives of all Ohioans,” Pizzulli remarked. “It is critical we continue to educate Ohioans on our state’s top industry!”

The agricultural sector is Ohio's leading industry and contributes over $100 billion to the economy, employing one out of every seven Ohioans. The state hosts more than 75,000 farms, with 90% being family-owned.
