State Representative Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) has announced the start of construction on the Portsmouth Riverfront Park Project, a development aimed at revitalizing the area along the Ohio River.

The project is funded by a $34.2 million grant from the Appalachian Community Grant Program’s Wonderful Waterfront Initiative. The funding will be used to improve Alexandra Point Park with features such as a scenic riverfront overlook, a community amphitheater, a new riverwalk trail network, an RV campground, and better access to the Ohio River.

“This project along our beautiful riverfront will be transformational for our community and the 90th House District as a whole, fostering community engagement, spurring economic opportunity, and encouraging outdoor recreation,” said Pizzulli.

More information about the groundbreaking can be found online.
