State Representative Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) has announced that Ohio's fall hunting season will officially begin in September. The opening dates for the 2025 hunting season are set, with several species available for hunting starting Monday, September 1. These include squirrel (fox, red, and gray), dove, rail (Virginia and Sora), snipe, and gallinule.
Early Canada goose and early teal seasons will open on Saturday, September 6 and run through Sunday, September 14. Deer archery season is scheduled to start on Saturday, September 27.
Stephens commented on the upcoming season: "Our part of Ohio is blessed with some of the best hunting in the world," noted Representative Stephens. "I hope all hunters bring home a record squirrel hunt, the buck of a lifetime, and plenty of Canadian Geese."
In addition to the new season dates, House Bill 64—supported by members of the Ohio House Majority Caucus—will lower the qualifying age for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses from 66 to 65. This change takes effect on September 30.
