Senate Bill 54, which includes the establishment of the Ohio River Commission, is awaiting approval from the Governor of Ohio. State Representative Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) announced this development.

The bill proposes the creation of a nine-member Ohio River Commission within the Department of Development. The commission's focus will be on promoting economic development, marine cargo terminal operations, and enhancing travel and tourism along the Ohio River and its tributaries.

State Rep. Pizzulli emphasized the significance of the river to both his community and the state: “The Ohio River is an invaluable asset to my community and the state as a whole,” he stated. “I’m confident this commission will protect and maximize its benefit to all Ohioans.”
