A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Lawrence County on October 7, 2024. The request was made by South Ohio News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
We at South Ohio News are seeking records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., specifically a list of FOIA logs that were sent to Lawrence County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. The requested fields include the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As a media organization dedicated to reporting news to the public and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In line with this mission, we have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information as media professionals.
