State Representative Justin Pizzulli has announced that Adams County will receive funding for local brownfield remediation and building demolition projects. The funds are aimed at addressing environmental concerns and preparing sites for future development.
The Manchester Bi-Lo Project will receive $497,450 to address petroleum-contaminated soil at a former gas station site. This project involves the removal of approximately 2,300 tons of impacted soil and groundwater treatment.
Additionally, the Adams County Land Reutilization Corporation is set to receive $502,410 for the cleanup of the Manchester Pants Factory. This includes asbestos reduction, demolition of a former manufacturing building, and removal of contaminated soil to reduce hazards and prepare the site for development.
"This funding will help prepare these sites for future economic development opportunities and restore the health and wellbeing of our communities," said Pizzulli.
Adams County will also benefit from $1,049,792 allocated for the demolition and revitalization of 24 sites across the county. In total, $52 million has been distributed statewide to support similar projects.
