State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) announced significant funding for key Capital Budget projects across Senate District 17. This announcement follows last week’s disclosure of a $350 million investment by the Senate in Ohio communities from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund.
"After diligent work, I am proud to say that every county in the 17th Senate District received funding. This investment represents another great day for our Appalachian communities," said Senator Wilkin. "It was a privilege to hold the gavel to get the process rolling so these dollars give our recreational and cultural activities, historic gems, and workforce training hubs the boost they need to keep serving Southern Ohioans for generations to come."

The Capital Budget also includes allocations of $600 million for new construction and facility upgrades at Ohio's public schools and an additional $575 million for local infrastructure projects such as roads and water and sewer systems.
The legislature typically approves a Capital Budget every two years to fund necessary improvements to public services and facilities across the state. These include schools, infrastructure projects like roads and water systems as well as mental health and addiction facilities.
Similar legislation was introduced today in both the House and Senate. The proposed bills will be reviewed by both chambers. For a full list of Capital Budget projects or updates on this year’s process follow On the Record.
