CHIME recognizes Adena as “Digital Health Most Wired” – again

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has recognized Adena Health System as one of the country’s “Digital Health Most Wired” for the second consecutive year. The recognition came as a result of a multi-year commitment to enhance Adena’s clinical and business information systems – a major initiative that includes the recent launch of a new electronic medical record (EMR) and online patient portal.

In determining whether an organization receives the award, CHIME considers overall performance in several different areas including infrastructure, security, administrative/supply chain, analytics/data management, interoperability/population health, patient engagement, and clinical quality/safety.

Adena was selected from among the more than 38,000 organizations surveyed by CHIME, and the success of the health system’s digital transformation was a driving force in earning the coveted award again this year. Adena ranked above many of its peers in categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure and patient engagement.

“Adena remains committed to bringing the best in health care technology to our communities,” said Adena Chief Information Officer Jamie Smith. “The implementation of a new electronic medical record serves as a critical step in the foundation for further patient-facing developments in billing, communications, and an enhanced clinical experience. We appreciate the confidence shown by CHIME in our efforts and the recognition of all of the hard work that continues to go into our digital transformation.”

The health system’s ongoing commitment to enhance the patient experience is exemplified by its Community Connect partnership with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center that drove the collaboration to launch the new EMR and patient portal. The new system, powered by Epic, serves as the latest example of how Adena is utilizing its technological resources and talented information technology caregivers to deliver the best experience for the communities it serves.

“The real winners in this new electronic medical record implementation are our patients, who will become more knowledgeable about their own health information, have more control over managing their care, and see the benefits of an enhanced patient experience,” said Adena Chief Operating Officer Kathi Edrington. “The new EMR also provides our physicians and clinical staff with a more robust functionality that enhances their interactions with patients and improves workflow.”

Patients can get a more personalized experience with the new MyChart portal, facilitating seamless and secure interactions with their providers and personal health information, by signing up at Adena.org/mychart.
