State Representative Jason Stephens has introduced House Bill 151, which seeks to create a steady funding source for transportation projects in Ohio. The bill proposes using surplus revenue to support these initiatives.
House Bill 151 intends to maintain the current rainy day fund thresholds at 10% of the General Revenue Fund (GRF). It also plans to cap the sales tax holiday fund at $250 million, with any additional funds being allocated to essential road and bridge projects.
"This commonsense legislation demonstrates fiscal responsibility, makes our roads safer, and supports Ohio’s workforce, especially in rural communities," said Stephens.
The bill also aims to extend the Connect4Ohio program. This initiative is designed to enhance infrastructure and improve access for Ohio workers commuting to employment centers.
The proposed legislation is currently awaiting review by the House Transportation Committee.
