State Representatives Jason Stephens, Melanie Miller, Ty Mathews, and Eric Synenberg took part in the "50 States One Israel" conference, held in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The event brought together state legislators from across the United States to strengthen relations between the U.S. and Israel.
The representatives met with Israeli leaders, discussed political issues, visited historical and cultural sites including areas affected by recent conflict, and participated in a tree planting ceremony where 50 trees were planted to symbolize each U.S. state and the connection between the two countries.
“It was horrifying to see where unprovoked barbarism was unleashed on the people of Israel on October 7, 2023,” said Stephens. “Israel’s leaders made it clear that they intend to protect their citizens and their freedom – a goal we should support as Ohioans and Americans.”
Stephens described his visit as an honor, noting Israel's resilience despite its challenging regional environment.
“Being in Israel underscored for me how deeply our two nations are connected through our shared values of freedom, democracy, and faith,” said Miller. “This experience reaffirmed the importance of strengthening that partnership so we can continue to stand together in promoting security, innovation, and opportunity for future generations.”
“I am thankful for the opportunity to have visited Israel with my fellow legislators from around the United States and here in Ohio,” said Synenberg. “As a member of the Ohio Jewish Caucus, this trip deepened my understanding of the vital relationship between the United States and Israel. It served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of protecting our shared democratic values and supporting the security and future of the State of Israel.”
A total of 250 elected officials attended from all 50 states.
