FOIA Request to Guernsey County Regarding Public Records from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Ohio News have sent a request for public records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., to Guernsey County. The request was made on October 7, 2024.
The requested records include a list of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs sent to Guernsey County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. We have asked for the following fields in the FOIA logs: Requester Name, Requester Organization, Request Content, Request Date, Request Complete Date, and FOIA Status.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
