A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois, on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
We are seeking access to public records detailing all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. Specifically, we have requested the following fields: Vendor Name, Transaction Date, Transaction Description, and Amount.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we rely heavily on access to public records. These records are essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
