A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois, regarding vendor payments made during the year 2024. The request was sent on September 26th, by DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs.
In the request, we asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1st, 2024 until September 26th, 2024. The desired details include the name of the vendor, transaction date, description of the transaction, and the amount paid.
As a media organization, we are committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from Dekalb County and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency in local government affairs.
