The Ohio House of Representatives has passed House Bill 399, aimed at supporting living organ donors by removing financial barriers. State Representative Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek), the bill's sponsor, announced the legislation yesterday.

House Bill 399 introduces a new income tax credit for employers who provide paid leave to employees donating organs. "Living organ donation is an extremely altruistic act that can give these Ohioans a new lease on life," said Lampton during his floor speech. "I believe that cost is trivial compared to the potential that this bill has to enable life-saving organ donations."

According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, nearly 3,000 Ohioans are currently awaiting lifesaving organ transplants. The bill now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

Additionally, the Ohio House passed Senate Bill 175 today, which aims to modernize state laws concerning insurance regulations and taxes. "This legislation will ensure Ohio remains competitive in the insurance marketplace and greater economic arena," stated Lampton.

Senate Bill 175 now awaits the Governor's signature.
