COLUMBUS – The House Economic and Workforce Development Committee began hearings on House Bill 517, also known as the Homebuyer Plus Military Inclusion Act, announced bill sponsor State Rep. Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek).

The Act will allow active-duty members of the uniformed services to participate in the homeownership savings linked deposit program. Members who are residents of the state via a residency or domicile election will be eligible to apply for a homeownership savings account while on active-duty assignment in Ohio.

“Our active-duty members have dedicated their lives to serving our country,” said Lampton. “This legislation is a small way to support them and ensure they have the resources they need to purchase a home.”

House Bill 517 awaits further consideration by the House Economic and Workforce Development Committee.
