COLUMBUS—State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) today announced the Ohio Controlling Board has released $1,707,033 for the General Tibits Drive project in Jackson County. The project aims to create 172 jobs through roadwork and state assistance.
"This critical roadwork will create new jobs, new businesses and, in turn, new opportunities for the people of Jackson and the whole county," expressed Wilkin. He further added, "This is a great day for our entire area, and I'm excited to see the results of this project in the future."
The roadwork will involve the construction and paving of 3,900 feet of General Tibits Drive between Veterans Drive and McCarty Lane. The enhancements are expected to provide improved truck access, attract new businesses, and support the expansion of current businesses in the area.
Funding for the project is being provided through the Ohio Department of Developments Roadwork Development (629) Grant program. This program specifically targets public roadway improvements that focus on manufacturing, distribution activity, and other developments that contribute to job creation and retention within the local community.
