The Ohio Controlling Board has approved the release of over $4 million in funding to the Department of Natural Resources, with a portion of the funds allocated for projects in Scioto County. State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) announced that the funding will be used to expand broadband and provide campground Wi-Fi in Shawnee State Park. Additionally, the funding will go towards maintaining bridges located in Shawnee State Forest and Shawnee State Park in Scioto County.

Pizzulli emphasized the importance of investing in the natural beauty of Ohio, stating, "It’s important to invest in the natural parts of our state so that generations to come may experience Ohio’s beauty."

In addition to the funding for Shawnee State Park, the Controlling Board also approved measures to establish appropriation authority for various projects in Ohio's Appalachian Region. These projects aim to directly invest in health, education, and economic development. The allocations include:

- $90 million for Appalachian Community Innovation Centers

- $78.5 million for the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant Program

- $20 million for Ohio's Affordability Grant Program

- $60 million for the Multi-County Last Mile Fiber Build Pilot Program

- $7 million for the Shovel Ready School District Project

- $10 million for the Ohio Broadband Line Extension Customer Assistance Program

Pizzulli expressed his satisfaction with the investment, stating, "I’m pleased to see this investment into Scioto, Adams, and Brown Counties. This funding will make our communities a better place to work, live, and raise a family."

The approval of these funds demonstrates the commitment of the Ohio Controlling Board to support the development and improvement of local state parks and communities in the Appalachian Region. The investment in broadband expansion and infrastructure projects will not only enhance the natural environment but also contribute to the economic growth and well-being of the residents.

With this funding, Shawnee State Park will be able to offer improved connectivity to visitors, allowing them to stay connected while enjoying the park's natural beauty. The maintenance of bridges in Shawnee State Forest and Shawnee State Park will ensure the safety and accessibility of these areas for both locals and tourists.

The allocation of funds for the Appalachian Community Innovation Centers, Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant Program, and the Multi-County Last Mile Fiber Build Pilot Program demonstrates the state's commitment to bridging the digital divide in rural areas. These programs will provide essential resources and opportunities for education, economic development, and innovation in the Appalachian Region.

The investment in Ohio's Affordability Grant Program and the Ohio Broadband Line Extension Customer Assistance Program will further support the expansion and affordability of broadband services, making them accessible to more residents in the region.

Overall, these funding approvals highlight the government's dedication to the development and well-being of Ohio's state parks and Appalachian communities. With these investments, the state aims to create a better future for its residents and preserve the natural beauty that makes Ohio a remarkable place to live and visit.
