The House Energy and Natural Resources Committee has taken a significant step towards promoting renewable energy in Ohio. State Representative Justin Pizzulli has announced that the committee has passed House Bill 264, which aims to expand the eligibility for the Renewable Energy Tax Credit in the state.

Under the current law, the Renewable Energy Tax Credit is available to facilities that generate energy from renewable sources such as solar, wind, and biomass. However, the new bill seeks to broaden the eligibility criteria to include facilities that produce energy through the means of steam recovered from waste heat.

Rep. Pizzulli, representing Scioto County, believes that this legislation holds great promise for not only Appalachia but for the entire state of Ohio. He emphasizes the importance of encouraging steam-producing industries to transition to renewable energy sources, ensuring that all sectors contribute to the expansion of clean energy.

"It is imperative that we encourage our steam-producing industries to transition to renewable energy sources, ensuring that no energy sector gets left behind in our pursuit of clean energy expansion," said Rep. Pizzulli.

By expanding the Renewable Energy Tax Credit, Ohio aims to reduce its reliance on non-renewable energy sources and promote the development of clean energy technologies. This move aligns with the state's commitment to a sustainable and eco-friendly future.

The passage of House Bill 264 by the House Energy and Natural Resources Committee is a significant milestone. The bill will now move to the House floor for a vote, where lawmakers will have the opportunity to further support the expansion of renewable energy in Ohio.

With the potential to benefit various industries and regions across the state, this legislation represents a positive step towards a greener and more sustainable energy future for Ohio.
