Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Three Area Women at Annual Witch’s BREW Banquet

BREW stand for Boldy Recognizing Exceptional Women and the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing the work of exceptional women  of Guernsey County yearly since 2017.

On October 28, 2022, at the annual Witch’s BREW Banquet, 3 women will be awarded for their work in our community.

Since 2019, CACC has awarded a $500 scholarship to a non-traditional female college student.  This year the chamber will award 3 scholarships to 3 local women. They will be presented with their scholarship award at the BREW Banquet on October 28.

The criteria to be met to qualify,  is to live or work in Guernsey County, to have completed high school or GED prior to 2015, and to be enrolled or enrolling in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Sara Blake, is pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work at Ohio University-Zanesville.   She currently also works full time at Cedar Ridge Behavioral Health Solutions.  In 2007, Sara withdrew from high school during her senior year at Meadowbrook High School due to a personal hardship.  She later obtained her GED.  Her personal experiences with substance use and poverty has led her to working with others that have had similar issues.

Sara has made it her mission to further her education to help and empower others.  She has achieved goals that she never thought attainable.  In 2021, she was a panelist for Harm Reduction Ohio on the topic of specialized docket courts in the State of Ohio.  She was also awarded the Blue Ribbon for a group project on child welfare in rural communities at the Ohio University Student Research & Creative Expo in Athens.

Amy Workman, is currently enrolled at Zane State College to obtain an Associate’s Degree in social work.  She has 2 semesters to finish her degree and is currently working at Guernsey Behavioral Health.

Amy is also raising her 12 year old daughter while working and going to college.  Amy is also very active in community service and was most recently recognized by AVC Communications Hometown Hero’s Program.

Amy’s goals are to be a positive role model to her daughter as well help others with her social work degree.  She wants to show others that there is hope and if she only helps one person – she will feel that she has succeeded.

Chelsea Coleman, is pursing a Bachelors of Science degree in Allied Healthcare Management.  Chelsea dropped out of college in 2011 and later found herself as a single working mother and knew that she needed to do more.  She went back to school to finish her Radiologic Technology degree and after accomplishing that decided to educate herself in healthcare management.

Chelsea is very active in coaching youth sports and volunteering for Cambridge City Schools parent/teacher organization.

Chelsea’s desire to further her education Is to be able to pursue employment in the medical field with a schedule that allows her to continue to volunteer with school and youth sports.  She also wants to show her children that hard work comes with big accomplishments. 

The Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present these 3 women with a BREW Scholarship.  We are proud of their passion, focus and drive to accomplish their goals. Congratulations!
