State Senator Steve Wilson recognized the Mars Hill Academy Girls Volleyball Team in the Ohio Senate on May 14 for winning the Ohio Christian Schools Athletics Association State Championship.
The recognition highlights the team’s achievement and brings attention to their ongoing success. The Mars Hill Highlanders secured their third consecutive OCSAA title with a five-set victory over Wilmington Christian Academy, marking their eighth championship overall. Under Head Coach Robie Lucas, the team completed a season with 31 wins and remained undefeated in their conference.
“I’m proud to celebrate this incredible group of student-athletes,” said Senator Wilson. “Their hard work and dedication has resulted in a remarkable accomplishment. I know that their school and community are proud of their amazing achievement and I look forward to seeing their continued success on and off the court.”
Wilson has contributed to civic organizations such as the Countryside YMCA and Warren County Foundation, served as a Navy Lieutenant, chaired the Financial Institutions, Insurance and Technology Committee in the Ohio Senate, is a father of four and grandfather of six, was elected as an Ohio State Senator, and received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University in 1972, according to his official biography.
The acknowledgment by Senator Wilson reflects broader support for student-athletes achieving at high levels both academically and athletically within local communities.
