State Representative Justin Pizzulli has announced the official start of Ohio’s fall hunting season, which begins in September. The opening dates for the 2025 hunting season include several types of game. On Monday, September 1, squirrel (fox, red, and gray), dove, rail (Virginia and sora), snipe, and gallinule seasons begin. Early Canada goose and early teal (blue-winged and green winged) seasons open on Saturday, September 6 and run through Sunday, September 14. Deer archery season starts on Saturday, September 27.
“Hunting season is a proud southern Ohio tradition that brings families together, strengthens our connection to the outdoors, and supports conservation in our state,” said Rep. Pizzulli.
House Bill 64 has also been highlighted by Rep. Pizzulli. The legislation lowers the qualifying age for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses from its previous threshold to age 65. This change takes effect on September 30, ahead of deer hunting season.
