The Adams County Board of Commissioners announced on May 12 that it will hold a work session regarding the Adams County Emergency Medical Services on June 11 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is set to take place at the Adams County Training Center, located at 107 E. Walnut Street in West Union.

The purpose of the session is to discuss matters related to the county’s emergency medical services. These discussions may address ongoing operations, planning, or future needs for EMS in Adams County.

Adams County has seen shifts in its school enrollment and demographics over recent years. During the 2023-24 school year, West Union Elementary School had the largest enrollment among eight schools in the county with 669 students enrolled, according to the Ohio Department of Education. Overall student enrollment in Adams County during that year was reported as 3,804 students, which represents a decrease of about 2.2% from the previous year’s total of 3,888 students, according to the Ohio Department of Education.

In terms of student demographics during the same period, non-Hispanic white students comprised the largest ethnic group with a total of 3,672 students or approximately 96.5% of all students enrolled in county schools; multiracial students were second with forty-six students making up about 1.2%, according to the Ohio Department of Education.

The upcoming work session provides an opportunity for local officials and residents to review and discuss issues related to emergency medical services as community needs evolve.
